Elle Kannike

Elle Kannike (b. 1980) is an Estonian artist working in glass, mosaics and life drawing. In 2024 she obtained a Master's degree in the Glass department of the Estonian Academy of Arts. Since 2016 she works as a freelance artist, and art teacher. She has taken part in international exhibitions in Italy, France, Germany and Latvia. she is a member of the International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists. Her works raise awareness about environmental issues and highlight the gravity of the climate emergency. Being fascinated by the material agency of glass, in her artistic research she is exploring ways to collaborate with matter.

Elle Kannike makes quick sketches attending Drink & Draw Estonia model drawing sessions. She captures human figure making a statement with just a few bold lines. Each line is spontaneous yet confidently expressing the essence of each model. Every pencil stroke has to be perfect, leaving no possibilities for over-drawings or corrections. Therefore for Elle drawing is just divine!

She earned a BA as Art Teacher from Tallinn Pedagogical University and MA in Cultural Heritage and Restoration from Estonian Academy of Arts — cum laude. In 2024, she obtained a second Master's degree in the Glass department of the Estonian Academy of Arts — cum laude.
