Eng-Seong Lim

After spending much of my career life doing creative work in advertising, I’ve come back to my first love - creating art. You can say art is in my blood - I could draw before I could write :)

So now it’s picking up where I left off. Yet it’s so much more - I believe in art that’s exploratory. Keeping an open and curious mind is critical in creativity. After all, so there’s much joy in mixing up different styles, techniques and mediums, and seeing what surprises and delights in the end-results.

As for subject matter, I’m currently veering towards portraiture. I’ve done a few such commissioned paintings for some VIPs here in Malaysia.

The dream of pursuing higher art education wasn't meant to be, despite the fact that I got an admission to an US college. So the closest to a ‘formal art education’ for me was in high school, more specifically Penang Free School. It was here that I’ve had the good fortune of having an art teacher who was truly inspiring, to say the least. So here’s to you, Mr Tan Teong Kui.

All else was self-taught. Which is, still happening. New day, new possibilities. After all, life’s a constant journey of learning, as they say.
