Erna Ucar

Erna Ucar was born in Ankara in 1979 and graduated from the Graphic Design School, Fine Arts Faculty of Hacettepe University in 2001. She lived in Moscow between 2004-2014 and while there became deeply fascinated with Russian Fine Arts.Spending years living in Cyprus, Turkey, Russia, Malaysia and Luxembourg, experiencing life and light in different geographies and cultures has had a great impact on her life and her art.

The Room Series is about modern people, the relationships I observe in my immediate environment, popular culture and media, the idiosyncratic moods of crowds from different cultures. Observing different cultures, after spending years living in Cyprus, Turkey, Russia, Malaysia and Luxembourg, experiencing life and light in different geographies and cultures, I realized that modern people live in similar small apartments, same coffee in the morning, we watch same tv shows, listen to the same music, and we work in similar offices in big cities, which brings loneliness at the end.
