Evgenija Koch

Born in St. Petersburg (RUS) und currently based in Hannover (DE), Evgenija Koch draws from her Russian heritage and integrates it with her experiences and observations of current societal and political developments. Her artistic journey commenced with formal training at the Russian Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, where she acquired comprehensive knowledge of tools, a range of techniques, and an understanding of the significance of materials and their historical origins. Liberating herself from the then-revolutionary but personally tiring method of socialist realism in Russia, she forged her own artistic path and honed her skills in various techniques.

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Evgenija pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering at St. Petersburg State University. This multidimensional approach to life and art is a pivotal aspect of her creative identity. The unique combination of technical expertise and creative expression significantly contributes to the depth and precision of her artworks.

1992-1996/Studied Mechanical Engineering at the State University of St. Petersburg 1994-1996/Instruction in drawing and painting at the Russian Academy of Fine Arts in St.Petersburg 2000-2005/Participated in nude and oil painting workshops led by Georg Ystein in Braunschweig 2012/Workshop on working with soapstone under the guidance of Lutz Schneider Heimsorth in Hannover 2013/Commissioned work "Carefree" for the Lower Saxony State Office in Braunschweig 2016-2021/Attended nude painting workshops led by Manfred Fischer in Braunschweig 2022 /Online course from Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main titled "The Iconoclastic Image" 2022-2023/Studied at the Free Academy of Fine Arts in Hannover 2023/Numerous workshops in the artist-initiated association located in the Pavillon cultural center in Hannover 2023/Silk-screen printing technique workshop led by Holle Voß in Hannover 2023/Contracted artist with the international art service for business and industry "Little van Gogh" in Bad Honnef.
