Laura Williams

I was born in Sheffield, raised in Lancashire and presently live in Bristol, UK, having lived in a few places in between.

I studied a Fine Art Degree in 1998 as a mature student aged 35 achieving a First Class Hons.

I have also worked as a model maker for international companies. Art handler for the Tate Gallery whilst Tate Modern was being installed (2000), Artist-in-schools, Early Years Teacher, Sales Assistant in an art shop specializing in pigments and old school applications, amongst a few other in-between influential experiences!

I’ve been lucky in my education embracing opportunities to learn more about the art world and function in society.

I’ve worked with many artists through my employment at the Tate learning about presentation and context. I gained insights into the daily practice and professionalism of being an artist whilst taking my first studio space at Bow Arts in London; alongside established and emerging artists.

I now practice in Bristol, UK and have a studio established at InBristol Studios, a dynamic hub for artists and makers to get creative. (www.inbristol.org).
