Hank Molitor is the digital alter ego of German artist and internationally awarded photographer Florian W. Mueller. Created as a distinct artistic identity, Hank exists to explore the blurred edges between photography, abstraction, and digital art.
Working under this name, the artist departs from representational photography and ventures into visual territories where images shift, dissolve, and sometimes disobey their own origin. What begins as a photograph may evolve into something else entirely – a layered impression of time, space, and perception.
“I create images.
Some are photographs. Some aren’t anymore.
I work with captured light, layered pixels and fragments of
context –
to explore how images evolve, shift, dissolve.
My process starts with seeing, but rarely ends there.”
Hank Molitor's work is not about capturing the world, but about reconstructing the image – about letting it fragment, blur, reassemble. It’s photography unanchored, liberated from the need to depict. These are digital works that refuse easy definition, existing in a space where perception becomes process.
While Hank Molitor is a digital persona, the artistic experience behind the work is rooted in decades of photographic practice and international acclaim.
As Florian W. Mueller (the artist behind the alias), awards include:
- 3x Gold, 1x Silver, 8x Finalist at the AOP Awards in London
- 2× Gold & 8× Silver at the New York Photography Awards
- Honor Award (Highest Category) at the AIA LA Awards (American Institute of Architects, Los Angeles)
Finalist at the Sony World Photography Awards
- 2x Silver, 3x Bronze at the PX3 (Prix de la Photographie Paris)

- and many more
He is a Professional Member of the BFF (Professional Association of Photographers and Filmmakers, Germany), the AOP (Association of Photographers, UK) and the German Photographic Society (DGPh)
