Gena Robbins

Gena Brodie Robbins was born in Macon, Georgia and raised in Tifton Georgia, graduating from Tift County High School in 1986. Brodie attended the University of Southern Maine and graduated with a BFA in Art Education in 1995 from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. Shortly after graduating from college, Brodie taught in the public schools in both Georgia and Florida and continued her studies in fine art throughout the U.S. and abroad in France. 

Traditional drawing and painting skills were explored and refined through artist retreats, such as La Bonne Etoile in Fontaine-Fourches, France, the Scottsdale Artists’ school in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the Art Students’ League in New York City.

Brodie was awarded the Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2005. While attending SCAD, Brodie received the New York Studio Space Scholarship held at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in N.Y., New York, and was also awarded internships at the Triangle Artist Workshop in Brooklyn and at Exit Art Gallery in New York City.
