Genece Hamby

I was born in Alton, IL in 1951.. At a young age, I discovered a passion for exploring the world of color, design and innovation. One of my favorite past times was designing with an Etch-A-Sketch, which explains my strong affinity with digital art.

My creative process expands and evolves through the daily discipline of digital painting, illustration, and design. It is not the "digital" medium by which I have chosen to express myself that makes me an artist. It is a way of life. It is a way of moving through the world; aware of all the beauty that exists and a strong desire to connect with the feminine and sensual.

To create my digital art, I use Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter software programs. Also, I believe in the practice of pure digital painting, illustration & design, which means creating without the use of photographs or scanned images.

My inspiration directly comes from my surrounding environments (past and present) and everyday experiences as a starting point. I am deeply moved to express stillness, beauty and grace through art.

Since 2007, I have exhibited and sold my art at local galleries, national art festivals, through online sources Including my own website, and special events. I have won several awards for "Best in Show" for Digital Arts.

In 2022, I opened a botique art gallery in Gillespie, Il to support local and regional artists. A small space, we focus on showcasing solo exhibitions so visitors can be completely immersed in the artist's story.
