Eva Millares Gorluak

Gorluak is a Spanish artist who lives and works in Sydney. Inspired by street art and the urban environment, her work represents a constant search for beauty through aging matter. Her drawings, which appear over collages, are made on posters sourced from illegal billposting places in Madrid and Sydney. To reconstruct the fragments forming bleached paper collages, Gorluak develops what she called “the ghost hunting”, capturing images with graphite, charcoal or traces of black oil, in a chaotic avalanche of characters that appears before her eyes through the folds and contours of the paper. For her, each finished collage is a site excavated in memory.
