Vic Bateman

Born London 1950I have been a visiting artist at Goldsmiths' and Croydon Colleges of Art. Tutor at Greenwich Community College and lecturer at the British Library. I am also interested in maps and lecture on the history of maps and map-making, Currently living and working in London.I am concerned with the activity of painting in the context of the twenty-first century. The using of paint and colour, the physicality of painting. the object quality of paintings and the relationship of painting to poetry and music. For the last two years, I have also been involved in writing, and at the end of October 2013 I will be performing a piece called 'Words' at Paul McPherson Gallery in Greenwich. This will form a part of a show with my partner Rachel Lindsey Clark.
