Irene Hamilton

I was born in Canada in 1961, my parents were two uncommon and headstrong Dutch travellers. Before I had time to settled in, my family moved to Brasil called by work opportunity.
This country forever marks me as my memories are gorged by the rough nature, the human warmth, the sounds of the drums, flavours and spices.

Although I am pushed to study engineering and follow an early career as a computer analyst and programmer I developed my paintings in the shadows.
As my computing career thrusts me over to more ordered countries with meticulous and strong intellectual focus, I developed a need to extend the reach of my artistic output. Thus it is in France, after years around Australia, Europe and the USA, that I decided to leave my computing career to devote myself fully to my true calling... ART.

I joined Anca Sonia School of Art for a year, shared several art studios with artists who contributed to my self development, before opening my first atelier. I excels in paintings in large formats and am constantly searching new techniques, new materials, experiencing different supports and learning .
