Jan Versteeg

I have been an amateur painter since the age of 62. Many of my works are inspired by the photographic material I produced over the years.
My hometown of Dordrecht has always been a great inspiration, but my works also consist of still-lifes.
Before I started painting in acrylics I used to do pencil drawings.
Since December 2014 I have been participating in the Academie Barteljee (a painters' collective under the inspiring guidance of Bart van der Bom).

Visible reality can be clearly perceived in my paintings.

As sources of inspirition I sometimes use existing works and well-known painters like Tjalf Sparnaay and Henk Helmantel.

I started studying painting in January 2012 at the Barteljee studio in Dordrecht, which is now housed in Zwijndrecht.

During those lessons I learned about the various painting techniques, but I also got the opportunity of discovering my own personal style in figurative and fine art painting.

2014 Stichting Denksport Papendrecht, 25 paintings.

2015 Restaurant En Verre, Zwijndrecht, exhibition of eight paintings.

2016 Study centre Koel, Zwijndrecht, exhibition of nine paintings.

2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 Courthouse Dordrecht, exhibition of three paintings (ongoing) in January, February and March).

2015 Extensive exhibition of about 30 paintings in nursing home Het Parkhuis in Dordrecht.

2018 Exhibition Kunzt Mijn Stad (my town) in Town Hall Zwijndrecht.
