Born in Brussels on 10 November 1951
From a mother painter, he quickly became interested in painting.
Jean-Marie Gerola is very quickly put forward by the great painter Mariano Fracalossi, and it could not be otherwise, given their linguistic affinity for a very pictorial figurative painting.
These are in fact works which, without going outside the tradition of matter and colour, develop a narrative somewhat in a heretical mode.
Indeed, extreme pictorial orthodoxy seems to be the element that characterizes the work. Drawing from its own traditional language, without ever being anodyne, the result is a very poetic narrative, expressed by a subtle play on matter and a very delicate sense of colour.
From 1971, he studied for 5 years at the school of the Arte Visuali Studio Group in Trento, Italy.
Throughout his career, he continues to be part of the Group.
From 1981, he participates in the research of an old Al Fresco technique.
