I am interested in de Chirico's metaphysical paintings, Kandinsky's synaesthetic abstraction, Italian Futurism and German Expressionism. Also, at a more general level, in evolutionary psychology and Power Elite theory. All progressive political initiatives fail before the brute reality of human nature, which is inherently self-interested. All spiritual agendas fail before the unique interiority of individual experience, which never matches generic rubrics. Art is man's sole recompense, albeit a fleeting and ultimately pointless one.
