Jil Guyon (JG Studio) is an award-winning artist whose work spans digital media, drawing, video, and installation. Her practice—marked by psychological intensity and poetic abstraction—has been hailed as “new, dramatic, beautifully executed” by Ms. Magazine.
Guyon’s pieces have been exhibited and screened at major cultural venues including Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Queens Museum, Museum of the Moving Image, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Her video performance Widow, curated by filmmaker Guy Maddin for the Toronto Urban Film Festival, reached over two million daily viewers via the city’s public transit system.
Guyon has collaborated with groundbreaking artists such as Joan Jonas, Noémie Lafrance, Helga Davis and Amanda Palmer. Her cinematic work has garnered multiple experimental film awards and a nomination for Canada’s Lumiere Prize. She is also a recipient of the Tarkovski Grant.
Previously Curatorial Associate at Neue Galerie New York, Guyon contributed scholarly work to the Egon Schiele: Catalogue Raisonné, specifically designing and authoring the Schiele and Contemporary Culture section.
