Stemming from the land that surrounds me, my paintings develop from place and grow into strange, spiritual, often surreal places.
I feel drawn to unusual and intriguing landscapes that appear to have traces of past human stories lived. For this reason I spend time exploring the relationship between figure and land.
I am rooted in exploring these past human stories and how they might transcend through time re-appearing with new importance.
The making of my paintings happens much like the narratives, I tend to see them as one and the same. Adding and taking away, the process is much like a journey in itself. I like to think of my paintings as adventures, in process and narrative. The brush marks and figures feel entwined; both exploring the landscape. There is a sense of spirit, guidance and sometimes isolation.
