João Paulo Racy

Artist-researcher, PhD student in Art, Subject and City and master in Contemporary Art and Culture from PPGARTES - UERJ. In his work, he seeks to articulate issues pertinent to the theme of housing, in the context of contemporary cities, developing artistic practices in dialogue with archeology and investigating memory, ancestry and history in the relationship between the city and the landscape. His doctoral research is financed by the Faperj Nota 10 scholarship and his master's research was financed by the Capes/DS and Faperj Nota 10 scholarships, respectively. He participated in residencies and exhibitions in cities in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Iceland, Peru, Portugal and the United Kingdom. He was nominated for the PIPA Prize 2021, awarded the Funarte Artistic Mobility Grant (2023), the Funarte Respirarte Prize (2020), the Leonello Berti Prize (2019), the Acquisition Prize at the 15th Jataí Art Salon (2016 ) and with the Acquisition Prize at the 42nd Luiz Sacilotto Contemporary Art Salon (Santo André, 2014).
