Johanna Rossi

I’m an ARTIST/MOTHER, it’s difficult to distinguish between the two during this chapter of my life as they are very much dependent on one another and coexist.

Becoming a mother and the desire to raise my son with a strong sense of self was the catalyst that sent me on my own journey of self recovery that brought me back to my brushes, almost 20 years after putting them down, and reconnected me strongly to the natural world. The routine of family life, the constant starting and stopping, the pull for creative headspace, the need to breathe and be still, intwined with the strong emotions of wanting to show up for my family the best way I can, is what has slowly moulded my creative process and guided me towards an art practice and style that has led me back to feeling more like me than I ever have.
