Joselyn paints in a contemporary, flat style, utilizing bold color to render her uplifting subjects. Her compositions are playful, often including an unexpected element, unique juxtaposition, or unconventional use of scale. Raised in an artistic, modern design-centered family, Joselyn was highly influenced by her father, a noted architect, in her pursuit of creative outlets. In 2012, Joselyn survived two life-threatening illnesses, thanks to a bone marrow transplant from her brother and a relentless sense of humor. She emerged with a new-found desire to simplify life and create works that spark a smile.
Joselyn earned a Master of Art in Modern and Contemporary Art History, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and graduated magna cum laude in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She studied drawing and painting at several universities and colleges in Southern California, and has studied acrylic painting one-on-one for the past 3 years with James Strombotne, an internationally celebrated artist.
