Julija Zelezova (b. 1988, Riga, Latvia)
I came to painting not through academic training, but through life itself — through experience, inner shifts, and quiet transformations. Art became a natural language for expressing what words often fail to carry — a language of emotion, intuition, and presence.
My paintings reflect an inner search, intuitive perception of the world, and a desire for harmony. I see art as a living, multilayered process where emotion, memory, and observation intertwine. I find inspiration in the unnoticed: a crack in the wall, a passing glance, sunlight reflected in old glass. These fragments form a larger puzzle of life, which I recreate on canvas.
My work often explores themes of sensitivity, introspection, awakening, and the balance between the personal and the universal. They don’t shout — they whisper, inviting the viewer to pause, slow down, and listen inwardly. It’s painting that speaks to what lies beneath the surface.
For me, painting is less an act than a state of being — a dialogue with the world and with myself, carried through light, color, and symbolic presence. I believe that true art is born in this gentle contact with something deeper.
