June Mineyama-Smithson is a Japanese artist based in London, UK. Her work aims to evoke optimism in the chaotic, imperfect world. In the face of adversity, optimism fuels hope and determination, motivating us to take action towards a better future.
Her work was selected for the prestigious ING Discerning Eye Exhibition 2024 by Will Gompertz, the renowned art critic and curator and former BBC Arts Editor.
She uses bold colours and shapes because it is a universal language that everyone instinctively understands, regardless of age, gender, or nationality. The geometric rhythm offers a sense of play and direction, symbolising that we are moving towards positive change.
