Xenia Kapanets

Xenia’s artistic journey spans continents and contrasts. Born in Moscow, raised in Los Angeles, and having lived for many years in Thailand and the UK, she later returned to study art at Moscow State University—immersing herself in opposing cultures, perspectives, and inner contradictions. These tensions echo throughout her work.

At first glance, her paintings often reflect conflict or introspection. But look again, and hope emerges—subtle yet persistent. It is this layered emotional terrain that defines her practice: one shaped by personal transformation and the decision to surrender fully to art.

Influenced by the movements of Surrealism and Impressionism, Xenia draws inspiration from dreams, memories, and the silent pull of a blank canvas. Her oil paintings, though fluid and expressive, conceal intricate detail—offering the attentive viewer a deeper, almost hidden, narrative.
