We perceive and appreciate art in idiosyncratic ways. Hours can be spent reflecting upon a painting, attempting to unravel the meaning being every stroke, every shade, and every stipple. An artist gives life to an idea, but the lens through which we view their work often transforms the initial message of the creator. This is the essence of what makes art so remarkable.

For a long time, I devoted myself to raising my daughter and running a construction company. I had to suppress and store away my dreams of becoming an artist in order to provide for my family. The stress of being a full-time mom and the boss of a company took its toll of me physically and mentally. Indeed, it is not easy for a woman to face up to the construction industry: a world created for men, by men. I was continuously watched and judged, and received little support from those around me. Coping with all of this was very daunting, and the pressure eventually accumulated to a stroke. This was a pivotal moment in my life: I could have died unhappy and unfulfilled.
