Kathryn Shiber is a San Francisco-based painter and photographer.
She is primarily inspired by the abstract expressionists and artists like Kandinsky, Miro, Agnes Martin, Eva Hesse, and Cy Twombly, as well as by heritage American landscape photographers such as Robert Adams and Walker Evans.
Her inventive and playful works on paper are created with graphite, watercolor, gauche and pen. They employee lighthearted form and language to discuss serious topics.
After growing up in New Jersey, she studied Studio Art at Dartmouth College where she was the recipient of the William C. Yakovac 1947 Scholarship for the Creative Arts and awarded the Robert Read Prize for outstanding achievement in the graphic arts.
She has participated in juried exhibitions of work in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and California and is always open to additional opportunities.
