Ketty Haolin Zhang has spent half of her life so far in China and half in Canada. Informed by her experience as a 1.5-generation immigrant, her practice navigates her relationship with placelessness and (non)belonging in a hyper-globalized world. She is interested in creating works that embody both closeness and distance - the simultaneous desire to belong and to resist being defined.
BA Double Major in Visual Arts and Art History, University of British Columbia
Upcoming exhibitions:
Deer Lake Gallery, Burnaby, Canada, 2024
Slice of Life, Vancouver, Canada, 2024
Zhang's work has been shown at Vancouver Art Book Fair, Canton-Sardine, The Reach Gallery Museum, Surrey Art Gallery and Art Gallery of Evergreen among others.
