Kevin Deaton

I consider myself an abstract expressionist though my work is representative of spiritual events and gnostic in nature. Technically, I am concerned with surface, material and gesture. I build and subtract from the surface using decoupage, impasto, glazing, and sgraffito.

Using mixed media allows me to achieve different qualities of surface. These include acrylics, water soluble oils, pastels, paper, beads, mica pigments, ground charcoal, even tar.
