Artist Karen Andrews worked as a fashion illustrator for specialty stores in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco for 20 years and is now doing her own fashion art without the constraints of merchandising. Also, she has always been a fan of the impressionist painter, Edgar Degas. She was inspired to do something like his work but wanted it to be about the dancers of today. She went to the San Francisco as well as the Oakland ballet companies and hired individual dancers to pose for her in their practice studios.
