Lara Theo was born in South Africa in 1975 where she stayed her first year. After she travelled and lived all over the world which gave her the opportunity to experience a wide variety of cultures from which she gained a lot of inspiration. Her influences go from African Art, Expressionism and Impressionism, over Cubism to Abstract where she fell in love with Art. She finally realized that abstract Art completed her & gave her freedom.

Lara is currently living in Athens Greece where she completed her studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the “University of La Verne”.
Her first abstract influence being Malevich, she brightened up her ideas and imagination – using the wildest colors to the simplest colors – to objects to lines - enabling her to see how minimalist art can be. Artist’s Statement

Abstract Art is a relief of being able to paint and produce something simple-something that comes from the mind, soul and thoughts only. God gave us hands to use-the sensation of painting with your hands is unbelievable-you feel as if you are in the painting itself-there is more power and feeling to it-it brings out an image of intensity-my mind, imagination is free and I paint for what I am feeling.
Actually Abstract Art enables me to concentrate on the essentials and ignore the obvious. My paintings symbolize my character and my moods: crazy and confused.
I believe painting is like writing-you paint as you write all your emotions you are feeling that moment, something personal, your inner thoughts. When I paint, the meaning to that painting, the thoughts/emotions of my painting, happen instantly. When I place my hands on the canvas, I feel the magical sensation of my fingers soothing through the paint, painting with different colors that desire my liking and shapes/lines that inspire me and then when I rise them off the canvas, my emotions have fled from my soul and have manifested through my paintings; not explainable to others, but to the painter herself.

This is my philosophy of Art.
