Laurie Carlson is a long-time art maker who has explored a variety of mediums, from clay to fiber to paints. She chooses timeless subjects that reflect her love and reverence for nature and animals. She paints the beauty she sees around her to share with others.
She's been a freelance writer (24 commercially published nonfiction books), a farmstead goat cheesemaker, a college history professor, a kindergarten teacher, and several other experiences that created chapters in an interesting life.
She's fascinated by neuroaesthetics, the study of art and the brain, and tries to do as much art making as possible to enrich her own life and share with others. She believes art is what keeps us human, giving us joy and inspiration.

B.S., University of Idaho; M.A. teaching, Arizona State University; M.A. history, Eastern Washington University and Ph.D. history from Washington State University. Also, several art workshops and college level painting and sculpture classes.

Member, American Women Artists.
