An imaginary recreation of childhood comes to the surface in my art. Growing up in a small village near the ocean, I remember an interior life bubbling over with a rebellious yearning to construct a magical world populated to overflowing with fanciful images.
These memories are like dreams ... blurry and ephemeral … they can slip away. Then a fragment returns: salty water lapping at the shore; sparkling rain puddles; the sun glinting through swaying branches; small sand creatures; a leafy path; a clear November night; the quiet solitude of a snowfall ….
I paint in the abstract to capture the dream.
