Livia Gondos

I model abstract sculptures in clay, plaster and mortar. Some I leave in their original material and paint them with bright acrylic colours. Others I have cast in bronze in a limited edition. I also carve stone sculptures. The shapes are organic with a smooth surface.

The subjects of my sculptures are abstract concepts.

I'm fascinated by complex topologies, sharp outlines and smooth surfaces, and the shadows they cast. To achieve this I rasp, sand and polish my sculptures until they are very fine and smooth, and not only look appealing, but are also sensual to touch.

I was born in Vienna, went to school in Southern Germany and Woodstock, New York, studied mathematics and management in Tübingen and Eugene, Oregon.

I live and work in Berlin since 1994.

Memberships: bbk Berlin and sculpture network.

I discovered modelling and sculpture at an early age and worked my way from plasticine via clay, plaster and wire to bronze, stone and cement.

On the way I took part in workshops and courses, whenever I had the chance. Amongst others, Freie Kunstschule Berlin and Kunstgut, Berlin.
