Parmeggiani's poetry surfaces in three important categories: space, time and memory. The photographer's eye records and freezes city life, with the distance of the random moment. Road junctions, pavements, water hydrants and streets. Urban landscapes crossed by human beings: men and women alone, making anonymous appearances in a space never before seen yet very familiar. Then, following an interlude for 'decantation', painting is introduced, shaping reality into a vision. Brush-marks erase the anecdotal, to yield only what has been retained by memory. Visions at the height of summer, scenes of apparent silence, waiting. Slow considered movements blend colour, and colour with music: Charlie Parker and a handful of others. This is how the work begins, how the artist slips inside chromatic matter. What emerges, what takes on form, is another place - one lacking in history and time, but lasting forever.
