Lucy MacQueen is a British-born, Austin-based painter whose work explores the space between landscape and memory. Inspired by places she has known and loved—from the Texas prairies and salt marshes to the softer greens of the UK and beyond—her paintings evoke a sense of familiarity without being tied to a single location. They are less about what is seen, and more about what is remembered.
Working in acrylic and gold leaf on panel, she creates large-scale works in which light plays an active role—the gold leaf shifting and refracting throughout the day. Largely self-taught, she has developed her practice through years of studio work and engagement with the artistic community.
Byam Shaw School of Fine Art, London
MacQueen has exhibited in London, New York, Santa Fe, and across Texas. Work held in private collections in the U.S. and internationally.
