Lynda Keeler

My paintings colorfully capture the intersection of the natural and built environments I see on my walks, bike rides and car trips in Southern California. These abstract landscapes are based on maps, both real and imagined, and incorporate a wide variety of materials including nail polish, embroidery thread, crushed stone and reflective elements along with traditional oil and acrylic paint.

Born in San Francisco but now living in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, I was formerly in the entertainment business but always painted and created art. Having studied at UCLA, Otis School of Art, Idyllwild Art Center and with local artists my work is also influenced by California artists such as Richard Diebenkorn, Wayne Thiebaud, Helen Lundeberg and classic painters including Georgia O’Keeffe, Matisse and cubist artists.

Lynda Keeler co-founded Desert Open Studios in 2021 which launched with over 60 artists across the Coachella Valley opening their studios to the public. In four years Desert Open Studios had grown to two weekends with more than 150 artists showing their creative process to visitors along with a group shows at the Intersect Art Fair and Coachella Valley Arts Center in Indio.
