Lynne Mercer

I am interested in color and how it changes the way we feel and think. Mostly, I want the paint to tell its own story and not a prescribed tale I've made up in advance.

I've been making art most of my life. For the last 20 years or so, my medium has been acrylic on canvas and board. I also play with charcoal on paper. Prior to that I was a photographer.

I am fortunate to live on a beautiful island in the Pacific Northwest perched on a small bay, home to a bevy of different shore birds and bald eagles. I couldn't possibly improve on the natural world around me so I paint an inner world to find its beauty.

My work has found its way to many private collections on the west coast.
