Anaïs Van Goethem

I live and work in Gent, Belgium.

My urge to create began during my early childhood.
When I was 18 I decided to go to the High School of Visual Arts where I began my artistic development and exploration.
As I work, I feel a strong sense of ‘Purpose’ and ‘Liberty’. This is of great importance to me - the sensation of being able to express myself through art.
My work is not just for my personal satisfaction, it is also the joy of being able to touch someone through my art.


I love to draw and paint on paper and board with pencil, acrylics, ink and watercolours. I like to experiment with different layers. Drawing enables me to express myself in a very direct, intense and sometimes elaborate way.
