Marco Campanella

Marco was born in Bari in 1971, into a distinguished Neapolitan family. He is a descendent of the philosopher Tommaso Campanella.
He inherited his skills from his ancestor Emanuele Caggiano, Master sculptor of the 18th.Century Neapolitan school, as well as master of Vincenzo Gemito, and Giuseppe Sciuti, a Sicilian painter, considered to be the most important southern's fresco painter in the 1800s.
As a young child he was taken by his family to Canada hence familiarising himself with Anglosaxon culture.
Since a young age Marco expressed himself through drawing and sculpture, beginning his studies with the Neapolitan artist Tullia Matania.


After finishing his studies at the Liceo Artistico of Naples, he attended the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome and at the same time studied naturalistic illustration with Franco Testa. His first books were published simultaneously with a variety of Neapolitan editors and he attended further Master classes with Adelchi Galloni and Lisbeth Zwerger.
In 1998 he began working with Dami Editors ( The Giunti Group) for whom he created many well known characters that have acquired international fame, first and foremost Topo Tip which has sold 10 million copies and been translated into 35 langua...
