Marco Mattiuzzi

Marco Mattiuzzi's training began when he attended a creative photography course held by Fiorenzo Rosso and Serena Leale, who oriented him towards the "artistic" photo. With techniques such as solarization, toning, tinting and various manipulations, he obtains images between painting and photography. Later he deepens the language of images during annual courses of professional photography with Bruna Orlandi, Alessandra Attianese and Pier Angelo Cavanna.

He has exhibited in art galleries in both solo and group exhibitions, ZOOM has published his portfolio and his work has been reviewed in newspapers and magazines.

Fiorenzo Rosso wrote about him: "The reproduction of the negative is not the final stage of the process, but the beginning, or rather the continuation of a path that will end, for the author, only after a long work of manual intervention".

He has collaborated with Photographie Magazine and Disegno e Pittura, as well as newspapers with critical reviews on painters and photographers. He deals with art and communication in many forms, from music to literature, from photography to virtual reality, with writings regularly published on online cultural portals and on major social networks.

From the reading of a novel or poem, or from observing a painting or statue, I draw inspiration, I make up a story as I used to do when - at the age of 5 or 6 - I observed the paintings of Flemish painters and was fascinated by the small characters enclosed within them.

The study of Renaissance and Baroque artists, whose works are open pages of ancient myths or religious themes, has always had a considerable weight on my work and my images also interpret a thought, convey a question, or tell a story. Whoever observes them invariably finds himself reflecting on the proposed topic, since it concerns personal intimacy, from childhood memories to the big questions that we each ask ourselves.

I love the pictorialist period, a time that proposed the combination of painting and photography, and for this reason my works have a similarity with the prints made with ancient techniques, from gum bichromate to oleotype, ways to achieve results in the balance between photography and painting, and between reality and fiction so as to further stimulate the imagination of the viewer.
