Marie T Harris

I was born and raised in Philadelphia and have one sister. As a child I focused more on my music education and received piano lessons from a very early age. I still enjoy playing. My true art education began in my thirties when I began taking drawing, pastel and oil painting lessons. I took many lessons and tried many different mediums focusing on watercolors and oils. No my husband and I live in Bryn Mawr. I taught English and Reading for many years and always had
students incorporate art into their projects.
I have four sons, 5 grandsons and 2 granddaughters and another due soon. My life revolves around my family, my art painting and my music-- and I enjoy cooking too.

My teaching education was acquired at St. Joseph's University where I graduated with a BS in English Literature. I subsequently attained a M.Ed. in the teaching of Reading and advanced degrees in the Teaching of Writing. I taught English writing, Literature at various local universities and worked as a Reading Specialist for 10 years at a Montessori School. I also am Montessori certified and operated two Montessori schools in the past. My professional Art Painting education was achieved by taking many courses at Pa. Fine Arts Academy and many art centers including those on the Main Line, Wayne, Wallingford, Jenkintown, Norristown among other workshops and classes I attended. I also teach art to children.

I professionally exhibit in local art exhibitions and galleries that usually require jurying. I belong to the Delaware Valley Art League and the Artist's Circle, and both of these organizations provide many opportunities for jurying and exhibiting my paintings locally throughout the year. I am a signature member of the Phila. Watercolor Society.
