Marina Cuccus

Cuccus' paintings contain such active marks. Standing indefinitely with such a strong presence, some marks possess a certain level of autonomy separating themselves from the rest, while many others bleed and blend into each other. At points the easing of one color into another happens so subtly it seems as if to be just a slight deviation in the light: soft, slow, and quiet. And then in other moments the transition seems to exist with more purpose, more drama, demonstrating something sharper: movement.

Marina Cuccus lives and works in Sardinia from 2002 where she teaches Pictorial Disciplines at the State Art School in the beautiful town of Quartu S.Elena.

After gaining her diploma in 1989 at the State Art School (liceo) in Cagliari, she continued her studies in Rome gaining the diploma at the Accademia delle Belle Arti, specialising in Painting.
