Maryam Hashemi

Constructed in a chaotic and layered style ,Maryam Hashemi's work reflect her thoughts and subconscious using female persona and her own image .She shares her world view and her personal interests in topics such as mythology ,religion and cultural identities in a colourful setting which resembles a snapshot from her mind.

Since living in London from 2002 her interest has been in exploring herself and cultural background and focusing on pushing her boundaries to different directions and have been actively exhibiting nationally and internationally. She has been inspired by everything and everyone ,bringing her outside world and her inside together on canvas. Her paintings have illustrative qualities in result of her Graphic Design background. They are full of characters and messages and due to their connection with her subconscious mind some of their meanings are still being processed.

Interested in exploring her body and physical qualities she has also been active as performer, dancer and a model ,using the experience from each form to know herself and enrich her paintings.
