Mary Glenn's artwork is inspired by two of her favorite artists - Miro and Chagall. Mary's love for Chagall is particularly evident in her etchings. Her bright and imaginative use of watercolors evoke a world of fantasy and flights of fancy. Using a palette of both vivid and pastel colors - she paints scenes inhabited by whimsical characters. Inanimate objects take on a life of their own and figures frolic in Mary's "wonderland".

Taking a different direction with her watercolor landscapes, Mary has an more organic, free-flowing style. Her intent is to inspire a mood through color and brush stroke. Stronger, more intense colors are used to express vivid emotions, drawing the viewer into the painting.

Jewelry - creating adornments - is another of Mary's passions. She has designed a series of pins as a homage to Miro, and another as an homage to Frankenthaler. Other pins are fashioned purely for fun, full of brilliant color and amusing subjects. They are intended, as Mary says, "to celebrate the soul as a free spirit, able to enjoy the lyricism of life."

Besides these wonderful creations, her artwork has expanded into a collection of bracelets and necklaces comprised of hundreds of one-of-a-kind buttons and beads. Casual ...

Mary Glenn is an artist who has enjoyed much recognition of her work. Galleries that have represented her artwork include: Corvallis Art Center, Corvallis, OR; Oregon State University, Art Department; Shasta College, Art Department; Griffith Gallery, San Francisco; Lumina Art Gallery, San Francisco. Mary was represented by the Hank Baum Gallery in San Francisco. Her work was included in a group show "20 Women Artists", and her own solo show titled "A Journey to Wonderland".

Slides of her work have been accepted into the Artist's Registry of the City of San Jose, CA. She has been featured in Art Business News and the Gazette-Times, Corvallis, OR, and listed in Art in America, Annual Guide.
