Mathijs Vissers (1989, The Netherlands) is a Dutch artist who works with both traditional, digital media and the crossroads between them.
The society we build for ourselves changes us as human beings. In a rapid pace we develop, but every step forward also has an effect on mankind as a whole. It’s these effects that interest me and form the starting point for what I do.
My work is a reflection of aspects of society that influence our behavior. Through narrative series of paintings I aim to tell these stories that either have shaped, will shape or are shaping us right now.
Through the combination of bold color and contemporary subjects I try to get the viewer to reflect on themselves and society as a whole.
