Marie-Eve Lachance

Marie-Eve Lachance has always been passionate about the visual arts.

During her visual arts degree, she was encouraged to move outside her comfort zone by experimenting with different styles. She soon discovered a fascination for abstraction. It was a turning point in her artistic career, which continues to evolve to this day.

She has always painted with tremendous passion and sensitivity. Inspired primarily by childhood memories, she looks for ways to depict emotional moments in her work. With intuitive movements, chromatic richness and attention to detail, her paintings subtly denote evocative elements that leave the observer free to interpret them based on the feelings they evoke. Each painting has its own story.

Marie-Eve approaches every piece with a careful logic. She first prepares a structure of vertical and horizontal planes that she then breaks up with gestural, spontaneous forms.

Layers of paint are superimposed and punctuated with grattage to release the colours beneath, creating paintings of beautiful intensity and texture.
