Melanie V Temme

Melanie V. Temme is a contemporary visual artist who creates a link between the modern art world and traditional craftsmanship with ‘Meistermalerei und Malermeisterei’. Born into a traditional craft business, she developed a passion for the art of painting as a child.

In her artworks, she masterfully combines painting, varnishing and gilding techniques. She uses palette knife techniques and colour gradients to create both abstract and representational works that open up new perspectives depending on the distance from which they are viewed. Her preference for gilding is reflected in her unique colour and material combinations. She also developed her own technique, the ‘Venetian blind technique’, from her crafts, which enriches her works with a special depth and three-dimensional structure. Another central theme in her work is the role of women, inspired by her experiences in a male-dominated industry.

MVT was born into a craft business specializing in painting and lacquer work, and from an early age, she was exposed to a wide variety of painting materials. After completing her high school education in Art and French, she pursued a vocational training that led to a master craftsman’s certificate in painting, lacquer work and vehicle painting, and other specialized trades. She also completed a degree in Business Administration (BWL), providing her with a solid economic perspective on her artistic endeavors.

The artist has continuously furthered her education, including training in art therapy and regular courses in restoration and gilding.

Since 2015, she has operated her own studio, where she continuously develops her art. Her works are regularly exhibited in both- group and solo shows- and are increasingly being acquired for private and public collections. Her deep craft training and passion for art are reflected in her multifaceted and expressive works
