Melissa Mae Kors’ figurative paintings are brightly colored and full of patterns dancing across the canvas and replete with hidden symbols. The paintings look whimsical and light but are often about serious themes such as isolation, conformity, oppression, sexuality, fears, pain, and pleasure.
Kors is a prominent figurative artist in NYC. In 1979, she was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and earned degrees in both the Performing and Visual Arts.
Her paintings have been exhibited in Wisconsin, Louisiana, Texas, New York, and in England. Kors' latest exhibits were at the Six Summit Gallery in Manhattan and featured at New York Fashion Week Shows.
