How can I talk about the ineffable and address a sense of loss that has haunted me for years? How can I address something that cannot be seen or spoken-of? To my belief, it is through the embodiment of that sensation, through the visual concretion and spelling-out of that particular feeling, that the ineffable may become significant.
Maura Falfan was born and raised in Mexico City to a family of artists. After studying Photography and dedicating some years to the profession Maura’s need to broaden her artistic activity led her to study a BFA at the National School for Painting, Sculpture and Etching (ENPEG) La Esmeralda, Mexico City (1996-2001) and later, an MFA at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY (2008-2010).
