Michal Ostrowski

I'm a painter from Poland, and live in the biggest city of this country – Warsaw. Where I come from the city is unpleasant, strange people walk in the street. Maybe that is why in my creative process I don’t seek beauty, but a feeling of surrounding reality. I use my art to construct some sort of language, which shows things that are hard for me to capture in words, concentrating on dealing with matters and problems that are given by this world – that feels to speed up so fast. I try to use my expression language to let my subconsciousness take a role in creating my paintings to breach a wall of what we see and how we feel about it, to let emotions take a lead on how my art forms. When I paint, I’m mostly inspired by my experiences and people that I know, what surrounds me, and what I can see on streets – chaos of the big city – its negative and positive sites are crucial for me. I strive to pull my subconsciousness on my canvases, and the vision on it is always twisted and exaggerated, emerging from the controlled chaos.
