Michelle Baharier is an acclaimed multimedia & interdisciplinary fine artist based in London and exhibits internationally across UK, USA, Europe, and the Middle East. She is a recipient of the coveted Julian Sullivan award for achievement in Fine Art Media from the Slade School of Fine Art.
Her oeuvre includes colourful and expressive paintings, storytelling, photography, installations, and digital media. Shaped by art movements such as Surrealism, Raw Art, and Expressionism, she is led by experiences of the human condition and how we express our emotions. As a dyslexic woman in an ableist world, she engages with Disability Social Art activism and wider art practices.
Michelle enjoys collaborating with community groups to create murals, banners, sound pieces, poetry and spoken word. She is well known for her public walks commissioned by the Department of Health, Southbank Centre for the London Olympics, and the Science Museum. Moreover, she served as the CEO, Founder, & Artistic Director of CoolTan Arts for over 25 years, an award winning arts in mental health charity run by and for adults with mental distress.
Outside of her own practice, she also teaches at Morley College.
