I have been a professional photographer for over 10 years, specialising in floral art and insect photography. During the day I am an Administration Manager for an International company on the edge of the Cotswolds in the UK.
I’ve never really been a hands-on arty person but over the past few years I have fallen head over heels in love with the digital darkroom – big time! I can spend many hours brainstorming an idea, shooting models, insects, flowers et al. Then, using my photography as my main medium, create unique and unusual pieces of art, just like my profile picture.
I find it very exciting to take a subject out of its natural environment, infuse some additional images, add textures and apply some digital wizardry; and all whilst trying to maintain a natural look. I love it when the viewer thinks they are looking at one thing only to realise there’s a lot more to the image than meets the eye; words just can’t describe how exhilarating it is.
I’ve even been encouraged to pick up a paint brush. Embellishing all Limited Editions artwork with Gold leaf and acrylic paint has enhanced the beauty of a piece and adds to the magic.
